Most of the character is quads (four sided), there are some triangles. I think I can understand why some are there (like the ones near the pants pockets) but others (like the ones on the hat) I can't. So I was wondering if they were like that to help with deformations or for the texturing (UV map came out that way or the triangles are being used as markers). Did that make any more sense?
All the quads are made by two triangles, but it didn't show. When there are four points and they are not on the same level, the computer may not judge how your two triangles composed. If the computer judges wrongly, it is necessarily to correct manually by making the quad to two tris
